After reading rave reviews, I decided to try the steak and cheese pizza, even though I usually stick to plain cheese. It was a delightful surprise! The steak and cheese pizza exceeded my expectations. What caught my taste buds off guard in the best way was the amazing cheesy sauce on the crust—I couldn’t quite figure it out, but it added an extra layer of deliciousness. So glad I took the chance and tried something new!

My coworker, John, a long-time patron, invited me to this amazing place for lunch today. We both opted for the large steak sandwich. Let me tell you, these sandwiches surpass D’Angelo’s offerings by a mile—it’s like comparing a birthday candle to a Roman candle.
Priced just under $8, my large steak sandwich was overflowing with steak, onions, and mushrooms. The portion was so generous that the steak spilled onto the plate, making it easily two meals’ worth—exceptional value at just $4 per meal with top-notch, fresh ingredients.
The bread was exceptional—crispy outside, chewy inside, and bursting with flavor. The steak was equally remarkable—tender, non-fatty, and not chewy. You get to season with salt and pepper to your liking. My coworker couldn’t finish his sandwich, and even though I was famished and devoured mine, there was still an abundance of spilled-out steak on the plate. This place is nothing short of generous with their steak, a far cry from D’Angelo’s portioning. Quality and quantity reign supreme here!

I recently moved back to the old neighborhood after about 15 years and was overjoyed to find Peter, the owner of this amazing place, still at the helm! Seeing his familiar face brought back a flood of memories, including a story from nearly 40 years ago. My cousins and I were playing hooky from school, and we walked in to order. Peter looked at us and said, “I have one question for you. Aren’t you supposed to be in SCHOOL!!!” We couldn’t help but laugh, and he promptly sent us on our way to school. I adore that caring and witty man. Peter and his wife always exude kindness and a personal touch, even remembering their customers’ names. I’m sure they remember mine too! The food is exceptional, especially in a world of shrinking portions. Pawtucket House continues to make their food to order, and the servings are so generous that a steak sandwich requires a fork to tackle! Just like it was 40 years ago!

Being a local from this area, I’ve always had a soft spot for this place. Even when just passing through, we make it a point to stop by. Last night, before heading to the final fireworks show at McCoy, we grabbed a meatball pizza and a cheese pizza. True to form, the pizzas were hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious—just as expected. They had our order ready within the 20-minute window they promised. Consistency is key here, as I’ve never had a bad pizza from this place. Hoping they continue doing what they’re doing and stay around for a long time!
